History
Two ladies, Karen Olson and Trudy Thorleifson, from the Ebenezer
Lutheran Church established the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank in
1978. They recognized a need for this ministry in our community and
saw the need for community involvement. Volunteers to staff the
effort and food drives to supply the needs was more than they could
achieve.

A non-profit corporation was formed in 1986 with a
Board of Directors from the community to oversee the Food Bank. The
Lake Stevens community responded with food drives, volunteers, and
donations from various sources. For almost thirty years your Lake
Stevens Community Food Bank has helped our neighbors in need.
Martha Konkler volunteered to help the food bank in 1979, shortly
after it began. For the past 28 years she has served in this
organization. She became the director in the early 1980’s and serves
on the Board of Directors today. |

is shame in
knowing about hunger and doing nothing about it.”

something to eat,
I was thirsty
and you gave
me something
to drink..."
